Jason Shoup

Producer

As a teenager, Jason fell in love with cinema and went on to study filmmaking at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He eventually specialized in producing, where his proposed graduation thesis film was an adaptation of a Woody Allen short story. The catch: in order for the film school to greenlight Jason’s project, he had to get Woody Allen’s permission…

After several months of trying to contact the famous filmmaker, he finally reached Woody’s lawyer, who eventually helped Jason secure the release, and he was able to make his final film school project.

The challenging experience taught Jason the power of persistence and tenacity, and he applied it to his future work in the film industry, where he worked for Untitled Entertainment, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, G4TV, and the Independent Film and Television Alliance, as well as running an e-commerce business and co-founding PlayLab, an indoor playspace company, inspired by his then toddler-aged daughter.

While his professional life has followed many turns, Jason has always maintained a love of filmmaking and storytelling in all its forms, from YouTube comedy sketches made with fellow film school alumni, to advocacy videos for the Marine Life Protection Act hearings, to his current work helping legal clients tell their stories in the most powerful and moving ways possible.
